Graphic Scores in the Library is a visual score that translates the everyday sounds of the ArtEZ university library into graphic forms. For this score, all sounds of the library were recorded and translated into graphic elements by graphic design students.
The elements of the score are produced using a silk screen printing technique with puff ink that rises after printing. This allows viewers to touch the book and physically feel the graphic forms of the sounds.
The final book is placed in the ArtEZ library, where visitors are invited to explore the familiar sounds of the library in a new way through visual and tactile perception. This project shows how sound shapes the atmosphere of a space and how visual representation can expand into a multi sensory experience.
